How to use this handmade pricing calculator

  1. Choose your material and currency. Decide whether you are working with resin, jesmonite, plaster, polymer clay or wax, and pick the currency you use in your shop.
  2. Enter all material costs for one finished piece. Include base material, pigments and fragrance, extra materials (wicks, findings, embeds, hardware) and a share of your silicone mould.
  3. Add your labour and artistic premium. Enter how many hours you spend from start to finish and how much you want to earn per hour. If the piece is very detailed or one of a kind, add an artistic premium.
  4. Don’t forget packaging, electricity and other small costs. Add boxes, tissue paper, labels, cards, a small amount for electricity or gas, and any other business costs you want to include.
  5. Optionally include marketplace fees. If you sell on Etsy, Amazon Handmade or Shopify, choose a platform and leave the fee field at 0 — the calculator will suggest a typical percentage.
  6. Review the Basic, Standard and Premium prices. Use them as a starting point and adjust for your market, style and brand value.
