Resin Calculator — How Much Resin Do You Need?

Free online tool for resin artists & handmade makers

If you work with epoxy or UV resin, you know the question very well: “How much resin do I actually need for this project?” Mixing too little means you don’t finish the pour. Mixing too much means you waste expensive resin and hardener.

To make resin projects easier and more efficient, we created a free Resin Calculator at Ideas Decor Shop. It helps you calculate exactly how much mixed resin you need for molds, coasters, trays, coatings and irregular shapes.

What this Resin Calculator can do

  • Calculate total amount of mixed resin in grams
  • Work with epoxy or UV resin — any brand, any mix ratio
  • Support different pour types and shapes
  • Help you avoid under-mixing or wasting resin

Supported pour types

  • Rectangular pour — molds for trays, blocks, tiles
  • Round pour — coasters, round molds, lids
  • Rectangular coating — boards, panels, tabletops
  • Round coating — serving boards, round trays
  • Irregular shape — geodes, crystals and organic forms

How to use the Resin Calculator

1️⃣ Choose calculator type

At the top of the page you can choose:

  • How much resin do I need? — total mixed amount
  • How much Part A and Part B? — split total into components

2️⃣ Select your pour shape

Pick the pour type that best matches your project: rectangular, round, coating or irregular shape. This tells the calculator which volume formula to use.

3️⃣ Enter dimensions

Enter your measurements:

  • Length and width in centimetres (cm)
  • Diameter in centimetres (cm) for round shapes
  • Thickness or height in millimetres (mm)

The calculator then converts the volume to grams of mixed resin — perfect for your digital scales.

4️⃣ Enter resin mix ratio (optional second mode)

If you switch to the second mode, you can enter your resin mix ratio, for example A:B = 100:60. The calculator will show how many grams of Part A and how many grams of Part B you need.

Recommended resin coating thickness

For most coating projects a thickness of about 1.5–2 mm gives a beautiful glossy finish without wasting resin. For deep-pour molds you can of course go thicker.

Why use a Resin Calculator?

  • Save money — no more mixing “just in case” extra resin
  • Save time — no manual math or guesswork
  • Avoid mistakes — fewer failed pours and thin spots
  • Feel confident before you start mixing
